We made it to The Day Mark - I looked it up and hadn't realised that it was so old - built in 1683 by Thomas Ekins who was Steward of the Godolphin family. It is the earliest surviving dated example of a beacon on the British Isles and is a grade II Listed Building- it was originally white, later red and now both !
Don't know if this was a dwelling in such an inhospitable place right up by The Day Mark
Looking back along St Martins to where we started
